The Legend of George Jones featuring Duane Steele

Join us as we open this season’s Concert Series with a touch of some of the most memorable country music ever created! A special tribute to the man considered to be the greatest country singer of all time - George Jones. In a career that lasted more than 50 years, “the Possum” evolved from a young honky-tonker to a music icon as he recorded more than 150 albums and became the symbol of traditional country music. His music continues to inspire artists of all genres. Award-winning singer/songwriter Duane Steele and his band will take you on a journey of Jones’ life through stories and songs. Steele will sing the hits of Jones that spanned five decades including his duets with Tammy Wynette to the No. 1 country song of all time “He Stopped Loving Her Today”. You’ll also hear the stories of Jones’ life which echoed the country songs he sang - filled with success, failure, hard-drinking and heartbreak. The Legend of George Jones is a must-see for Jones fans and country fans alike.

Join three of Saskatchewan's favourite singer-songwriter-musicians in this engaging and uplifting multi-artist concert. Through a combination of experienced voices and diverse musical styles backed by stellar musicians, this is a “not-to-be-missed” performance of song and story.

 

Host and lead musician, award-winning JEFFERY STRAKER, performs 100+ shows every year across Canada, Europe and Latin America. He draws comparisons to the likes of Harry Chapin, Carole King and Billy Joel.

 

JACK SEMPLE has reached an international audience with his songwriting, recordings and performances as a vocalist and virtuoso guitarist. He’s a Juno recipient, two-time winner of the Western Canadian Blues Album of the Year and has received a Grammy ballot nomination for "Contemporary Blues Album".

 

Folk singer-songwriter and Western Canadian music award winner ANNETTE CAMPAGNE has been performing for over twenty-five years, both as a founding member of the acclaimed group Hart Rouge and now in her solo career. Her heart-in hand music and lyrics touch the soul and jumpstart the heart.

Chris Funk’s magic show is an engaging and visceral experience that will have audiences talking for years to come. The live-feed camera and interactive videos bring audiences up onstage and into the action, delivering a show that everyone can call their own. Chris Funk has designed a show that truly encourages audience members to discover wonder, while laughing, smiling, gasping with amazement and really experiencing a child-like sense of awe, all along the way.

Madison Violet

March 4, 2020 (Wednesday)—7:30 pm

 

Madison Violet is an award-winning Folk/Americana duo who have 9 albums to their credit and are releasing a new album in 2019. They have toured worldwide and will be celebrating their 20th year as a group in 2019.

Madison Violet have been recognized with several awards including a Juno nomination, a Canadian Folk Music Award for Best Vocal Group Album of the Year and a Critic’s Choice Award from Country Music People’s Magazine. Their songs have been featured in the notorious music magazine MOJO’s Top 10 Playlist, and received a mass of acclaim from outlets such as the BBC, the CBC, Maverick Magazine and NPR, and have earned the duo the Grand Prize in the Maxell John Lennon Song Writing Contest. Madison Violet were on Germany’s WDR's list of ‘Best Bands of All Time’ and with a bit of a departure from their rootsy sound, their single ‘These Ships’ was released in 2014 on one of the largest dance labels in the U.S., Ultra Records, garnering over 1,000,000 plays on Spotify.

Christine Tassan et les Imposteures

With a decade and a half of bringing their special blend of Gypsy Swing and revisited cover songs to audiences, Christine Tassan et les Imposteures have made a name for themselves on the music scene. The latest show of these four exquisitely talented female musicians brings together some of the best works by Django Reinhardt, Félix Leclerc and American swing composers. With a singular mix of virtuosity, daring and humour, the four-woman string band draws inspiration from one artist’s poetry and the other’s swing to weave a rich new musical universe, an ode to freedom and creativity.

Enjoy an evening of music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, Broadway’s most popular composer. Terry Barber, international countertenor, sings a kaleidoscope of hits from ten memorable Broadway shows. Nominated for two Grammy awards, Barber has performed at the Metropolitan Opera, Carnegie Hall and Moscow’s Svetlanov Hall. Mr. Barber’s storytelling, humour, and stunningly beautiful vocal renditions from Cats, Evita, Jesus Christ Superstar, Phantom of the Opera, and Hamilton are a thrill to the ears.

A Note About Seating

Doors open 30 minutes prior to the performance start time. We encourage you to arrive no later than 30 minutes prior to the performance. We endeavor to minimize the inconvenience to our patrons and the artists on stage when seating latecomers. If you arrive late for a performance, you will be seated at the first appropriate moment in open seats at the back. You are welcome to move to your assigned seat at intermission. If the show is sold out and there are no open seats at the back, latecomers will be seated at the discretion of theatre staff.
